A quick girls trip that was filled with vibrant city colors, food, and beach time. Midsummer, a group of us decided to visit Puerto Rico after we found a low-fare deal. After we booked our flights, grabbed our travel insurance, we started planning our itinerary with the help of our travel agent.
Here is our ultimate girls trip guide to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Where to Stay
$ – Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is the ultimate dream splurge!
$ – St Regis Bahia Beach is all about luxury with the perfect mix of beachfront and rainforest beauty.
$ – Aloft San Juan is your hotel of choice if you’re looking for sleek, modern but trendy.
$ – The Wave Hotel is the place if you’re searching for a simple location that’s budget-friendly and close to the beach and good restaurants.
Where to Eat & Drink
If you didn’t know before now you do – Puerto Rico is a foodie’s paradise. From traditional cuisines to fusions and desserts I’m sure you won’t be disappointed on your girls trip.
$ – MUSA, Modern Caribbean – Don’t be fooled by the outside of this restaurant. Grab brunch at this funky spot that just screams arts and offers delicious mimosas, handcrafted coffee, and a mouthwatering menu. If only these photos were edible.
$ – Eter Rooftop Lounge – Service is very slow here however the view and the food may make up for the delay. If nothing else, grab your girls and have a few drinks and a quick photos session before a night out on the town.
$ – STK Steakhouse – Hit STK up between Thursday – Saturday for a great music party atmosphere with your dinner. Another reason to visit, the setup is perfect for group dinners with round-styled booths.
$ – Arya Rooftop Brunch along the beautiful ocean backdrop is what brunch mornings are made of. If you’re a guest of the hotel enjoy the pool with your brunch & drinks.
$ – La Factoria – before or after dinner drinks at this well-known grungy local speakeasy.
Things To Do
We took an entire day to explore as much as we could of Old San Juan. We started early with a guided walking tour and after we hopped around letting our curiosity guide us.
Even with all the food places, we visited while in town we still could not get enough of all the delicious food. So we found an amazing food tasting tour, Old San Juan Food Tour w/ Flavors of San Juan, that took us to the best coffee and chocolate cafes and taught us how to make mofongo. Next time we’ll hit a cocktail tour and maybe a little salsa dancing.
After eating our way throughout San Juan we decided that we had to taste the rum on the Island. So over to Casa Bacardi for a complete tour, rum tasting, and Mixology Class. And yes, we’re officially Casa Bacardi certified now!
Ended our trip with a Day Trip to Culebra Beach. Party catamaran with food and drinks to an island with fine white sand that meets a beautiful sapphire blue ocean that could calm any racing mind. After that incredible day trip, we completed our night with a Sunset Harbor Boat Ride to toast the end of a wonderful girls’ trip.
My Final Thoughts...
San Juan is the perfect place for any girls trip.
- The diversity in activities is sure to ensure that there will be no boring moments
- The food…what’s a girls’ trip without endless food and drinks that are delicious?!
- The BEACH! And endless rooftop pools. I mean with great weather almost all year round you can surely find me with a cocktail near some body of water.
